PAUL GEREMIA CD RELEASE EVENT |
Paul is a third generation Italian-American who, as he laughingly puts it, "was born in the Providence River Delta". Growing up in a family that moved across the country and back numerous times weaned his appetite for music, history and travel, which served him well later on.
For almost forty years, Paul Geremia has survived solely by the fruit of his musical labours. Having abandoned all other means of support in 1966, he has been travelling far and wide ever since, performing in every capacity from street singing to club and concert bookings, throughout the U.S.A., Canada and Europe.
In the years since, Geremia has built a reputation as a first rate bluesman, songwriter, a "scholar" of early jazz and blues, and one of the best country blues fingerpickers ever with his tools - six and twelve-string guitars, harmonica, piano and a husky soulful voice - and with an innate sense of the humour as well as the drama of the music, he keeps traditional blues fresh and alive with his performances.

OPENING ACT EARTH SHINE |
Lynn Bobby has spent most of her musical life in the San Francisco Bay area, spawning one of the most inspired rock bands around, The Lynn Bobby Band. She was strongly influenced by heartland rock and roll and Motown classics, growing up just outside of Motown herself. Her songs travel genres effortlessly. Rock, soul, country, folk . . call it what you like, it's Lynn's songs that draw you in.
Darrell Arnold lived and played in Europe in the 1990s and early 2000s, working his way into the club scene there with his German band and doing opening tours with the Yardbirds as well as festivals with Canned Heart and Eric Burdon and New Animals. His compositions are soulful folk-rock, with a twist of country. Recently transplanted to Miami, Lynn and Darrell have developed a powerful duo act, with moving compositions and harmonies that are truly mesmerizing. |

GRANT PEEPLES PIMP AND HOE DOWN PARTY |
PIMP AND HOE PARTY! PRIZES AND AWARDS FOR THE BEST DRESSED PIMPS AND HOES In 1995 Grant Peeples divested himself of what he owned in America and moved to a remote Caribbean island off the coast of Nicaragua. After eleven years of official ex-patriot status, he sold the small hotel he had built there and returned to his native North Florida. And ever since, he’s been writing and singing songs about what he found and faced upon his return home. www.myspace.com/grantpeeplesmusic |

PANAMA RED |
1972. I became Billy Joe Shaver's guitar player, and we
wrote a couple of songs together, one of which, Bottom
Dollar, has at this time been recorded upwards of forty
times. It has become a standard country song, but
standards don't pay; hits pay, but not standards...
I played in the Jewboys and I toured under my own flag
until 1980, when Felix Pappalardi recorded a song of mine,
somewhat watered down, called Negro, and then invited me to
work for him in Miami back at Criteria. I accepted,
because of the opportunity to learn how to produce records
from The Man himself. Felix meant a lot to me, and I
invested a lot of my career potential in working with him.
I became a 'made man', and was poised to finally make the
big time, which there was one of then, when Felix died at
the hands of his wife, Gail. There is nothing more that
should be said. |

THE FOLK CLUB OF SOUTH FLORIDA PRESENTS BARB RYMAN |
A natural storyteller with a deep compassion for the lost and forgotten voices of our culture, Barb Ryman expects music to be more than entertaining. With a crystalline voice and skillfully played guitar, Barb delivers a rich mosaic of contemporary folk, drawing from Celtic balladry, early rock, old-time gospel, and her own unique style. |
